Subaru creates well-rounded vehicles with comfortable accommodations, appealing features, and excellent practicality. With a diverse lineup spanning the most popular segments, Subaru has cars and SUVs to suit a variety of needs and preferences. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect in the upcoming model year.

2025 Subaru Crosstrek

The Subaru Crosstrek was completely redesigned for its third generation in 2024, including an upgraded infotainment system, updated safety technology, and a ruggedly handsome new look. It also introduced a new addition to the adventure-ready Subaru Wilderness lineup. With such sweeping improvements made just last year, it makes sense that this 2024 Car and Driver Editors' Choice winner sees only a few alterations for the 2025 model year.

The most notable change pertains to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (182 horsepower, 178 pound-feet of torque), which has been added to the Premium trim, making the more potent powerplant option standard equipment on all trims above the base model.

2025 Subaru Forester

The 2025 Subaru Forester is all-new for the crossover's sixth generation, sporting a boxier, more rugged look, a quieter, more refined cabin, a larger infotainment touchscreen, and more. While it wasn't in the lineup during the 2025 Forester's initial release, Subaru has confirmed that a sixth-generation Forester Wilderness model will join the ranks in early 2025. Notable Wilderness enhancements include:

  • Longer coil springs and shock absorbers
  • 9.2 inches of ground clearance
  • Protective exterior cladding
  • 17-inch wheels wrapped in Yokohama GEOLANDAR® all-terrain tires
  • Reinforced roof rails (800-pound stationary load limit) – ideal for a rooftop tent

While Subaru has remained tight-lipped regarding specifics, the automaker has confirmed that an all-new hybrid powertrain will join the Subaru Forester roster in mid-2025.

2025 Subaru Outback

The Outback enhances its mid-level Limited trim by adding previously optional amenities as standard equipment. Notable examples include a power tilt/sliding glass moonroof, a heated steering wheel, integrated Subaru STARLINK® Navigation, and a DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System.

While the 2025 Outback sees minimal changes, a completely overhauled seventh-gen model could be in the cards for the 2026 model year. We don't have any specifics, but we expect the next Outback generation to follow the recently redesigned Forester with a boxier aesthetic and new hybrid powertrain.

2025 Subaru Ascent

For 2025, Subaru's largest model has dropped its base trim, raising the three-row SUV's starting MSRP but significantly expanding its entry-level feature list. The Subaru Ascent Premium adds numerous comfort and convenience enhancements, including upgraded cabin materials, heated front seats, a power driver's seat, and advanced safety technologies like Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Reverse Automatic Braking. The Premium trim also unlocks the Ascent's 5,000-pound max towing capacity and an optional seven-seat configuration.

The 2025 model adds a few previously optional amenities to the Premium trim. Now, a power liftgate, proximity entry, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are standard regardless of the seating configuration. Other additions for the 2025 Ascent include a new Bronze Edition appearance package and a new top-tier trim level, the Onyx Edition Touring.

2025 Subaru Impreza

After a complete sixth-generation redesign in 2024, the Subaru Impreza enters the 2025 model year unchanged.

2025 Subaru Legacy

The 2025 Subaru Legacy continues the sedan's seventh generation by bolstering the Limited trim's feature list. The mid-level model now includes a sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation as standard equipment.

However, perhaps the biggest news for the Subaru Legacy is that 2025 will be the model's final year. So, now is a great time to buy, if you're seeking a spacious and comfortable family sedan with standard all-wheel drive for your Maine commute.

2025 Subaru WRX

Last year, Subaru pleased enthusiasts by adding a new manual-only TR trim to the WRX lineup. For 2025, the automaker is taking things a step further for its rally-bred sports sedan with a new top-tier "tS" trim. Short for "tuned by STI," the tS trim gets the Subaru Tecnica International treatment, including:

  • STI-tuned electronic dampers
  • Brembo brakes
  • Upgraded Drive Mode Select system
  • Unique 19-inch wheels and exterior design details
  • Bridgestone Potenza S007 performance tires
  • Recaro® front seats
  • 12.4-inch fully digital instrument panel

2025 Subaru BRZ

The Subaru BRZ is the automaker's lone RWD coupe and the definitive choice for Bangor enthusiasts seeking an affordable true sports car experience. But you don't have to take our word for it. The second-generation BRZ has received Car and Driver 10Best recognition in every year of production (2022 – 2025), earning 10/10 ratings each time.

For 2025, the BRZ adds a Sport mode to manual-transmission models, enabling sharper throttle response. There's also a new limited-run "Series.Purple" trim level. Available in only 500 examples, this new special edition BRZ sports a stunning Galaxy Purple Pearl paint color, unique exterior and interior design details, an STI short-throw shifter, and a Flexible V-Bar for improved cornering and steering response.

2025 Subaru Solterra

Subaru's first fully electric model sees minimal feature changes for the 2025 model year, save for the addition of a Touring Onyx Edition trim level. This new top-tier model enhances the Touring trim with stylish dark-themed design enhancements. However, consumers will appreciate significant price cuts across the Solterra lineup, making it a great choice for Rockland and Camden shoppers seeking an accessible entry point into EV ownership. Premium and Limited grades have reduced their starting MSRPs by $6,500, while the Touring trim's MSRP is $7,000 below last year's model.
