Subaru SUVs - Standard Features

While each model has its own feature arrangement, there are a few amenities that they all share. With Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and 8.7 inches of ground clearance, Subaru SUVs deliver remarkable performance in inclement conditions. And when equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission, they come standard with EyeSight® driver-assistance technologies, including Pre-Collision Braking, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist. Additionally, all Subaru SUVs feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

Subaru Ascent

Dimensions at a Glance

  • Seating: 7 - 8
  • L x W x H (inches): 196.8 x 76 x 71.6
  • EPA Interior Volume: 167.6 cubic feet
  • Max Cargo Capacity: 86 cubic feet

If you need extra seatbelts for your larger family, you can still enjoy Subaru's legendary capability and safety with the Ascent midsize three-row SUV. Ascent has standard seating for eight, or you can opt for a seven-seat configuration with second-row captains chairs. Ascent is spacious, versatile, and offers a generous array of standard amenities, including three-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels, X-MODE traction control, and steering-adaptive LED headlights. All Ascent models find their motivation in a turbocharged 2.4-liter BOXER® (260 horsepower, 277 pound-feet of torque) paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Subaru Crosstrek

Dimensions at a Glance

  • Seating: 5
  • L x W x H (inches): 176.8 x 71 x 63.6
  • EPA Interior Volume: 121.7 cubic feet
  • Max Cargo Capacity: 55.3 cubic feet

While it may be the smallest SUV in Subaru's lineup, this subcompact crossover offers ample comfort and utility. With smaller exterior dimensions, Crosstrek is ideal for drivers who need extra carrying capacity without taking up too much space. But don't let its outer size fool you; Crosstrek offers plenty of room for adults in all outboard seats and can be easily configured to meet your passenger/cargo needs. Crosstrek comes standard with a 2.4-liter BOXER® engine  (152 horsepower, 145 pound-feet of torque) and a 6-speed manual or CVT. Starting with the 2021 model year, a 2.5-liter engine (182 horsepower, 176 pound-feet of torque) is also available.

Subaru Forester

Dimensions at a Glance

  • Seating: 5
  • L x W x H (inches): 182.1 x 71.5 x 68.1
  • EPA Interior Volume: 140.8 cubic feet
  • Max Cargo Capacity: 70.9 cubic feet

If you're looking for something with greater capacity, consider stepping up to the Subaru Forester compact crossover. Forester leverages its larger dimensions to increase both passenger and cargo areas, providing more elbow room for occupants while maintaining plenty of space for their stuff. Forester has a stronger base engine than Crosstrek (2.5-liter BOXER® with 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque)). And since a CVT comes standard, EyeSight® driver aids do too.

Subaru Outback

Dimensions at a Glance

  • Seating: 5
  • L x W x H (inches): 191.3 x 73 x 66.4
  • EPA Interior Volume: 141.5 cubic feet
  • Max Cargo Capacity: 75.7 cubic feet

Though similar in appearance to Forester, the Subaru Outback has several defining distinctions. It's a unique model that straddles the boundary between midsize SUV and wagon. It provides only slightly less passenger volume than Forester, instead focusing on a larger cargo hold. Outback has the same base engine as Forester; however, it also offers an optional turbocharged 2.4-liter BOXER® powerplant that makes 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
